Ergonomics & Conservative Management

Ergonomics & Conservative Management

According to World Health Organization, ergonomic is the technology of work design, based on the human biological sciences: anatomy, physiology, and psychology. It applies to the field of science that studies and designs the human-machine (tool), human-work environment and human-human interfaces to prevent injury and illness, and to improve work performance. Good ergonomics practices provide positive impacts on workers, work tasks and the work environment, reducing work-related injury and illness rates, and leading to improvement in workplace productivity.

The purpose of conservative management for injuries is to produce a non-surgical treatment plan using therapeutic exercise, to eventually prepare the individual to return to play after the sustained injury or to maximize functional ability. Therefore, by using therapeutic exercises, a rehabilitation program can be devised for those who do not wish to pursue surgery.
